Hi friends!! I recently received this beautiful from the new Riley Blake Designs, Ava Kate collection. I love how striking the pinks and sharp corals are against the seafoam of the main print and the monochromatic stripes are so fun.
Lately my daughter has been requesting snaps on her dresses over buttons because it makes it easier to get them on and off. Honestly, I'm not going to complain because it makes my job one step easier. I only had white snaps and they didn't really match this beautiful Violet dress, so I decided to cover them with some of the scrap pieces I had left over. It's such and easy extra step and is so worth it! Here is how you can create your own fabric covered snaps.
Supplies Needed
You will need a scrap of fabric, fabric marker or pen, a quarter, scissors, snaps, snap pliers, sewing needle and thread.
Using a fabric pen, trace around the quarter, creating a circle large enough to fit the snap.
Cut out each circle you drew.
Thread your needle and tie off your ends. Starting with the knot on the right side of the fabric, stitch a running stitch around the circle until you have reached your starting point.
Place a snap in the center of the circle, wrong side of the fabric facing up.
Pull the thread ends to cinch the fabric around the snap head and tie to secure the fabric. Clip the excess thread.
Place your covered snap through the fabric of your garment and secure using the snap pliers.
There you have it...perfectly matching snaps for every outfit!! The Ava Kate collection can now be found in your favorite local quilt shops or online!
