Hey friends!!
We are so excited to be collaborating with our favorite custom fabric shop, Spunkin Honehead, for this fun FREE drawstring bag pattern!
Supplies Needed
2 - pieces of canvas 19.5" x 15"
2 - 1.5" x 15" strips of coordinating canvas for the casing
2 - Drawstrings or 32" pieces of bias tape
General Supplies: Machine, Iron, Scissors, Coordinating Thread

This tutorial uses a 1/4″ seam allowance
Step One: Press one long edge of the casing pieces up 1/4", wrong sides together.
Step Two: With wrong sides together, lay the casing piece over the top of the front bag piece, right sides together. Align the raw edges and pin in place. Stitch together. Turn over and press the seam open. Repeat with the back piece.
Step Three: Using a serger or zig zag stitch, stitch around the bottom and both sides of the front piece. Repeat this step with the back piece.
Step Four: With right sides together, pin 2" from the top folded edge on both sides of the bag. Continue pinning around both sides and bottom of the bag. Starting at the first pin, begin sewing all the way around the bag until you reach the first pin on the other side of the bag.
Step Five: Press the side seams open, making sure to fold the un sewn part in 1/4". Edgestitch along both sides of the seam until to reach where you began sewing in step four. Repeat this step with the other side.
Step Six: Fold the casing down tot he wrong side of the bag and press. Pin in place. Topstitch 1/8" from the folded edge. Repeat this step with he other side.
Step Seven: Turn the bag right side out. Tack the top of the bag together. To do this, drop your feed dogs and use a large zig zag stitch. Stitch over the same spot 5 or 6 times to secure.
Step Eight: Attach a safety pin to one end of the drawstring and feed all the way through the casing. Repeat with the other drawstring on the other side of the bag. You will have 2 drawstrings coming through each end now.
There you have it, a cute trick or treat bag for all those goodies. Scrunch it closed or loosen to open. I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial.
